Jack's quest for coffee is thorough, and attended to with the same devoted attention as he would give making a bomb or bringing a forest back to life. Which is to say he gets distracted a lot and does a fair bit of poking around completely irrelevant places, but he always follows the yellow arrow back to the job at hand.

And besides, the poking around pays off. More on that story later.
