Sinclair looks back at the rope dangling helpfully from the banister. If they leave it there, anyone could follow them. So even if they don't take it, they should pull it up again. But Jack is right, they may need it again at some point and nobody wants to have to go through that all over again. Granted, maybe the next rope they find will be a little less horribly disgusting.
